Catering equipment manufacturer increases production ten-fold with Solid Edge
The company Chuvashtorgtekhnika based in Cheboksari, Russia, manufactures highend equipment for the catering and food service industry. To ensure its continued survival in a tough global marketplace, the company decided to switch to 3D modeling for its product development work using Solid Edge and CAM Express from Siemens PLM Software. The changes have enabled Chuvashtorgtekhnika to achieve a ten-fold increase in productivity.
In Russia and the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States), Chuvashtorgtekhnika is considered a leader in the development and construction of fan ovens, ventilator hoods, self-service systems, refrigeration equipment and related items for the catering industry.
Simple planning and optimized processes
As its workload increased, the method used previously by the company to create designs at the drawing board was becoming obsolete and inefficient. The new system uses the wide-ranging functions of Solid Edge to produce 3D models and drawings rapidly and also to adjust and optimize them at every phase of the development process. Chuvashtorgtekhnika makes extensive use of the advanced Solid Edge design function and synchronous technology for sheet metal processing, as a large proportion of the company’s products are made of stainless steel sheets.
The software solutions enable the automatic generation of complex components and simplify the subsequent production release procedure, facilitating the entire process of production planning. “Solid Edge not only helps with routine design tasks; it also leaves room for creativity,” says Alexey Kirillov, Assistant Chief Designer at Chuvashtorgtekhnika.
Enhanced product quality and productivity
During the course of further modernization within the company, the machine fleet was extended in 2011 to include an NC turning and milling machine. Siemens PLM Software system partner Fort Dialog, which had previously provided support to Chuvashtorgtekhnika during the introduction of Solid Edge, suggested additionally implementing CAM Express software. The NC programming solution is integrated in Solid Edge, eliminating the need for complex data conversion. The solution package from Siemens PLM Software enabled Chuvashtorgtekhnika to boost the level and quality of its entire production, while increasing productivity ten-fold.
